Three – Prey For Rock & Roll & Realistic Sex
An
historic panel convened recently at the Writer’s Guild of
America. Produced
by POWER Up and moderated by filmmaker J.D.
Disalvatore (Gay
Propaganda), the panel featured Laura Nix, writer/director The
Politics of Fur; Lydia
Marcus, freelance writer and entertainment journalist; Roberta
Marie Munroe, film programmer with Sundance;
Kirsten Schaffer,
Director of Programming with Outfest;
Maria Lynn,
president of Wolfe Video; Trish
Doolan, comic, actress and writer/director of April’s
Shower; and last but certainly not least, Cheri
Lovedog, the founder, singer, songwriter and guitar player
for Lovedog, an all girl punk rock band on the L.A. club circuit
in the early 80’s.

Panel. Photo by Nicholas Snow of www.NotesFromHollywood.com.
A
Hollywood success story, Lovedog wrote an autobiographic play
which was produced in New York, and has become the hot new
independent film which recently wowed crowds at the San
Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and is set to screen on
Outfest’s coveted Awards Night—Prey
for Rock and Roll. The
movie stars Gina Gershon,
Lori Petty, Drea DeMatteo, Shelly Cole, Ivan Martin and Marc
Blucas. At the
POWER Up panel, Lovedog explained that producers wanted to tame
down the sex scenes, which ultimately remained true to her
vision and are quite provocative.
“They’re f*cking,” Lovedog explained.

launched their
San
Francisco
chapter during the S.F. Gay & Lesbian Film fest at Club
Cherry after the screening of their short films, and 500 people
showed up!
